BEFORE YOU START
You'll need someone to send you $CROC—it's invite only. But setting up your wallet first means you'll be ready when that happens.
GOT A PIECE OF PAPER?
Some OG $CROC holders receive a pre-funded wallet with the seed words written on an actual, physical piece of paper. Old school.
If that's you, skip to Step 1 and choose "Import an existing wallet" instead of creating a new one. Enter the 12 words from your paper, and your $CROC will be waiting for you. Then make sure to follow Step 2 to add the Polygon network.
PUT IT ON YOUR HOME SCREEN (20 SECONDS)
CrocCoin installs like a real app — its own icon, no browser bars, more screen for the scorecard. No wallet needed for this part.
On iPhone
- Open croccoin.app in Safari. This only works in Safari — not Chrome, and not MetaMask's browser.
- Tap the Share button — the square with the arrow coming out of it, in the bottom bar.
- Scroll down the list and tap Add to Home Screen.
- Tap Add. The croc lands on your home screen.
On Android
Open croccoin.app in Chrome, tap the ⋮ menu, then Install app (or Add to Home screen).
What the installed app gives you
Full-screen scorecard with no browser chrome, its own icon, and long-press shortcuts straight to Bets, New bet and Leaderboard.
Two honest limitations
Your wallet won't connect inside it. iOS only exposes a wallet inside MetaMask's own browser, so anything that needs a signature — accepting a bet, co-signing a result, paying — still has to happen in MetaMask. Everything else works fine.
Keeping score is the exception, and it's the important one. Open the round's magic link once and the installed app can post scores for the rest of the round with no wallet and no signatures at all. That's the on-course setup: scorecard on the home screen, MetaMask only when money moves.
It works without a signal
Tap a score in a dead patch and it's saved on the phone straight away — the card shows Offline · 3 holes saved on this phone so you know where you stand. They post themselves the moment you find a bar, whatever screen you're on. You can close the app in between.
Signing still needs a signal, because signatures go through MetaMask. That only matters at the end of the round.
Sending this to someone? croccoin.app/install is just this part, without the wallet steps.
NOTIFICATIONS
Bets stall for one reason: “co-sign this” goes unread for four days. Turn these on and your phone tells you when someone accepts your bet, reports a result you need to co-sign, or sends you CROC.
It takes two screens, and that's Apple's doing
iPhone only delivers notifications to the app on your home screen — and that app can't reach your wallet, because iOS only exposes MetaMask inside MetaMask's own browser. So the half that buzzes and the half that signs are different browsers, and they can't talk to each other.
- Open CrocCoin from its home-screen icon, come here, tap Turn on notifications. It gives you a 6-digit code.
- Open croccoin.app/setup in MetaMask's browser, type the code under Link a device, sign once.
The first screen updates by itself when you sign. Once per phone, not once per bet.
On iPhone, the fine print matters
Apple only allows web notifications from an app that's on your home screen, on iOS 16.4 or later. In a Safari tab they don't work at all — not badly, just not at all. Do the install above first, open the app from its icon, then come back here.
There's no number badge on the icon and no Live Activity — Apple doesn't offer either to web apps. You get the banner and the entry in Notification Centre.
INSTALL METAMASK
MetaMask is a browser extension and mobile app that acts as your crypto wallet. It's free and widely trusted.
DESKTOP (RECOMMENDED)
- Go to metamask.io/download
- Click "Install MetaMask for Chrome" (or your browser)
- Add the extension to your browser
- Click the MetaMask icon and select "Create a new wallet"
- Create a strong password
- IMPORTANT: Write down your 12-word Secret Recovery Phrase on paper. Never share it. Never store it digitally.
- Confirm your recovery phrase to complete setup
MOBILE
- Download MetaMask from the App Store or Google Play
- Open the app and tap "Create a new wallet"
- Follow the same steps as desktop to secure your wallet
SECURITY WARNING
Your Secret Recovery Phrase is the master key to your wallet. Anyone with these 12 words can steal everything. MetaMask support will never ask for it.
ADD POLYGON NETWORK
$CROC lives on the Polygon network, not Ethereum mainnet. You'll need to add Polygon to MetaMask.
EASY WAY (CHAINLIST)
- Go to chainlist.org/chain/137
- Connect your MetaMask wallet
- Click "Add to MetaMask"
- Approve the network addition in MetaMask
MANUAL WAY
- Open MetaMask and click the network dropdown (top of window)
- Click "Add network" then "Add a network manually"
- Enter the following details:
- Click "Save"
Once added, you can switch to Polygon anytime using the network dropdown in MetaMask.
ADD $CROC TOKEN
By default, MetaMask only shows ETH/MATIC. You need to import $CROC as a custom token to see your balance.
STEPS
- Make sure you're connected to the Polygon network
- In MetaMask, scroll down and click "Import tokens"
- Select the "Custom token" tab
- Paste the contract address:
Token Contract Address:
0xda1946a7c7deb73f5a33968bacff54b0f75add6b
- MetaMask should auto-fill:
- Token symbol: CROC
- Token decimal: 18
- Click "Add custom token"
- Click "Import tokens" to confirm
Once imported, you'll see your $CROC balance in MetaMask whenever you're on the Polygon network. If you haven't received any yet, it'll show 0.
SHARE YOUR ADDRESS
When someone is ready to send you $CROC, you'll need to give them your wallet address.
- Open MetaMask
- Click on your account name at the top (shows a truncated address)
- Your full address is copied to clipboard
- Send this address to whoever is sending you $CROC
Your address looks like: 0x1234...abcd
It's safe to share—people can only send to it, not take from it.
A NOTE ON GAS
Every transaction on Polygon requires a tiny amount of POL for gas fees (usually less than $0.01). If you want to send $CROC or interact with prediction markets later, you'll need a small amount of POL in your wallet.
You can buy POL on most exchanges (Coinbase, Kraken, etc.) and send it to your Polygon address. A few dollars worth will last a long time.
YOU'RE ALL SET
Your wallet is ready. Now you just need someone to vouch for you.
